Description
Staps (2022) mentions that נג״ף ‘hurt’ often refers to an action by God/YHWH that does not imply physical injury. Indeed, 9 out of 12 instances of this verb in the qal with an explicit subject in the same clause have 'JHWH' or '>LHJM' as their subject. The exceptions are an ox injuring another ox (Exod 21:35), and your feet hurting (no Objc, intransitive use or Objc implied 2ms from previous line?) (Ps 91:12; Prov 3:23).
Further queries may tell us whether God/YHWH also is the regular subject to nifal-forms of this verb, as well as how it goes for non-explicit subjects (when there is no Subj phrase in the נג״ף clause).
