Description

In two cases the verb form in the oath formula כֹּה־עשׂ״ה (לִי) אֱלֹהִים/יהוה is marked as plural. The following observations hold for both cases: – the verb form ends in the so-called paragogic nun: יַעֲשׂוּן – the speaker is a foreigner (Jezebel in 1Kgs 19:2, Ben-Hadad in 20:10) – the subject is אֱלֹהִים, which should be interpreted as ‘gods’ rather than ‘God’ given the plural form of the verb

The ending with paragogic nun appears to be the regular plural form in this fossilized construction.
