Description
This query shows that there are only 8 occurrences where "heart" is paired with the preposition "upon." There are instances where speaking upon the heart is a term of endearment, especially in reference to a man speaking to a woman. Genesis 50:21 should be highlighted as great value for understanding Isaiah 40:2 because both verses contain in the context NHM (comfort). When comfort is in the context of the idiom "speak upon the heart," it should be understood and translated as "console." This is the purpose of speaking upon the heart, it is to comfort and console the individual of their fears for the future.
